Yesterday, my friends and I embarked on a daring trek to Kumara Parvata. The tales we'd heard from previous trekkers emphasized the grueling nature of the journey, but nothing could prepare us for the challenges that awaited us. Remarkably, we decided to ascend and descend the mountain on the same day, a deviation from the typical two-day trek that others usually undertake. The trail was known for its toughness, and the weather only added to the complexity. As we descended from Bhattaraa Mane, heavy rain unexpectedly joined us, making the terrain even more slippery and treacherous. The situation became particularly tense when we realized that, for a couple of hours, we hadn't encountered any other trekkers. Normally, we would meet fellow adventurers on the trail, exchanging information about the distance remaining and sharing the experience. However, the relentless rain obscured my spectacles, and the limited visibility made it nearly impossible to see the trail or any signs of fellow trekkers. Out of our group of eight, five of us managed to stay together, but the remaining three were trailing behind. Attempts to reach them through calls proved futile, as some phones were dead, and others lacked the necessary charge. The forest echoed with our calls, but there was no response from our friends. Navigating through the challenging and unfamiliar terrain, we pressed on, finally reaching the base camp. There, we secured ourselves with polythene raincoats and made the critical decision to head back up to locate our three missing friends. The uncertainty and worry added to the intensity of the situation. Fortunately, after what felt like an eternity, we spotted our friends about 10-20 minutes from the base. The relief was palpable as we reunited and made our way back down together, the exit in sight. The adventure, while demanding, became a memorable tale of resilience, teamwork, and the unpredictable challenges of trekking in the midst of nature's surprises.

I have been 2 times now. Real beauty of western ghats. You need self belief, self esteem and energy to reach the peak. The hike tests our ability to climb with mental pressure and physical abilities. There are total 4 stretches. Starting point to the grigadde(where battaramane) then to kallina mantapa and then sheshaparvata and finally to kumaraparvata. The total number of kilometres you need to cover might be around 30km.
